Tass was born on January 16, 1920 in Toronto.
He attended Queen Alexander - Danforth Tech and University of Toronto Schools.
He enlisted in the RCAF in November 1941. #1 Manning Depot, Toronto; #5 ITS, Belleville; KTS, Trenton and #4 B&G, Fingal. He received his AG wing in 1942. He was posted overseas to #3 PRC at Bournemouth.
Trained at #20 OTU, Lossiemouth, #15 OTU, Harwell; #1659 HCU, Topcliffe (Halifax); #1 Parachute Training School Ringway, Manchester, ( 2 Practice jumps)
He was posted to 161 Squadron (RAF) at Tempsford, Beds.
His crew consisted of: PILOT - Sgt. Crome RAF; NAV - Sgt. Hathaway RAF; NAV Sgt.Moore RAF; BA - Sgt.Paterson RAF; WAG - Sgt. Paulin RAF; AG F/Sgt.Lavalee RAF; AG/Dispatcher F/Sgt . Kanakos RCAF.
Special Operations - Suppling resistance group in Europe with guns, ammunition, dropping espionage agents, pigeonand propaganda leaflets etc.
Flying at low level and crashed, July22/23, 1943. Evader for 5 months. Later, airlifted out of France by Lysander in 1943.
Tass was demobbed at Toronto in September 1945.
Owned own Business (Automotive electrical parts)
Married Vivian Pavlis, February 5, 1948. Two sons and 6 grandchildren (both sons, school teachers.)
