Otto was born in the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia on the 1 of April, 1924. On October 5th, 1938 he left his hometown to move further inland and on October 10th German troops occupied his hometown.
He departed Prag - Czechoslovakia (via Poland) 2 Dec. 1938. Arrived in England (Harwich) on Dec 5, 1938. He stayed in London, Sussex and Birmingham. He sailed from Liverpool and arrived in Montreal on June 19, 1939
He settled on a farm in N.W. Saskatchewan - at Flat Valley - worked near Rosetown and in North Battleford.
Moved to Toronto in October 1942 and joined the RCAF on the 23rd of June, 1943.
Manning Depot - Brandon, Man.; PAED (McGill) Montreal; Tarmac Duty, St. Hubert; #10 B&G Mount Pleasant,
PEI; Received Air Gunner Wing on Feb. 11, 1944. Did Commando Training at Valleyfield Que. Then posted to the UK and arrived at Bournemouth on May 15, 1944. Posted to #22 OTU Gaydon, Warwickshire in May; #1659 Heavy Conversion Unit at Topcliffe, Yorkshire in Aug. Then on to #429 “Bison” Squadron as Mid Upper Gunner on Halifaxes
