Al was born in Toronto on September 9, 1920. He attended Central Tech, worked for Loblaw’s Groceteria was a member of the Queen’s York Rangers, 1st American Regiment, (Militia) Honourable Discharge.
Al enlisted in the RCAF in January 1941 at Toronto; #1 Manning Depot, Toronto; #1 B&G Jarvis, Ont., remustered to aircrew, while at Jarvis, June 1942. His Air Gunner Wing was awarded on Sept. 1942.
Arrived in UK, Dec./42.

Posted to 419 Squadron, 6 Group Bomber Command (Cdn) Halifax IIs at Middleton St. George, Yorkshire.

Demobilization; From Germany back to UK by Lancaster flight to London, then to Bournemouth. Proceeded for a week of two of leave in London. Recalled back for trip to Canada, via Louis Pasteur. Leave in Canada, discharged at Eglinton Hunt Club, Toronto, Ontario in September 1945.
Returned to former employer, Loblaw Grocers in Toronto.
Married May 31, 1947, Mary Juniper. 4 daughters - Patricia, Anne, Barbara and Susan (deceased). Daughters all married - three grand children. March 8, 2002.
