Ed was born on June 9, 1917 at Kenville, Manitoba. He served three years with the Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting, at Flin Flon, Manitoba
He enlisted in the RCAF in March, 1941 at Winnipeg. Manning Depot at Brandon; ITS, Regina; SFTS, Sea Island; SFTS, Calgary and he received his Pilot Wing at Calgary in October 1941.
He was posted to the UK in November 1941 trained at #3 AOS Staverton; #13 OTU Bicester,(Blenheims) February 1943 - June 1943.
He was posted to #107 Squadron(Bostons) #2 TAF at West Raynham; Hartford Bridge. His crew consisted of
F/O Brown (Observer); Sgt.J.Shaw(Gunner/WOP).
