Mick was born on October 12, 1918 in Winnipeg. He attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and then worked for the Winnipeg Free Press. He enlisted in the RCAF in May, 1941 at Winnipeg. He was posted to #2 Manning Depot,
Brandon; #4 ITS Edmonton; #18 EFTS Boundary Bay; #11 SFTS Yorkton where he received his Pilot Wing at the end of 1941. He was posted to the UK in January 1942.
His training took place at:#15 AFU Kirmington, Links; # 7 OTU, Limavady, Ireland; #150 Ferry Flight, Harwell;
#1 OADU, Portreath, Cornwall.
He was posted to #458 Squadron RAAF and served at stations; Luqa, Malta; Shallufa, Egypt; RAF Station Algiers; Protville, Tunis.
His crew on operations consisted of: George McAuley (Can)(2nd pilot); Len (Br)(2nd Pilot); Ron Eggers (Aus) (Nav); Bob Boulton (Aus)(WAG); George Unitt (Aus) (WAG); Tim O’Riley (Aus) (AG).
Mick was involved in various torpedo (night) attacks on Rommel’s shipping. Flying Wellington Mk. 1c & VIII.
Mick was demobbed in Calgary in 1945.
He attended the University of Toronto in business administration: Publishing, Marketing, Sales.
Mick is married to Margaret and they have two adopted children. Catherine and William. July 5, 2001
