Ab was born in 1918 at Ridgeway, Ontario and graduated from Ridgeway High School.
He joinded the RCAF on February 7,1940 at Niagara Falls, Ontario. He was at #1 Manning Depot, Toronto: Guard Duty, St. Johns NB; #1 ITS Toronto; #4 EFTS, Windsor Mills, Que.; #8 SFTS, Moncton, NB. where he received his Pilot Wing in March 1941. He was posted to the UK in April 1941 to Bournemouth and from there he did his OTU at Bassingbourne. He was then posted to #9 Squadron RAF at Honington, Herts on Wellingtons. His crew consisted of all RAF types.
At OTU - JU 88 collided with a full crew into a Wellington ahead of me doing night practice take off landings. Buried 4 German an 6 British next day - very upsetting and close -- too close.
Returning from Cologne, August 27, 1941 -- fighter and flak -- lost both engines and all bailed out near Lille, France. 3 POW’s -- 1 killed and 2 returned to England, via underground and were killed six months later on return to operations.

Ab left the RCAF at St. Hubert in August, 1945.
Ab married Jean who passed away in January, 2001. They had two children. July 7, 2001
