Thomas was born at Youngs Cove Rd., NB on August 20, 1917. He enlisted in the RCAF in June 26, 1940 at Moncton, NB.
He served at #1 Manning Depot, Toronto; #1 ITS, Toronto; #9 EFTS, St. Catherines; #5 SFTS, Brantford from where he received his Pilot Wing in March 1941.
He was posted to the UK in May, 1941. He did his OTU at Bassingbourne(12 miles from Cambridge). He was then posted to #142 Squadron on Wellington’s at Binbrook, Lincs.
His crew on operations: *1st Pilot -- Sgt. Hart, RAF; **AG -- Sgt. Dennis, RAF; ** 2nd Pilot -- Sgt.T. Wiggins RCAF **AG -- Sgt. J.Gibson, RAF; **Obs. Sgt. D.Day RAF; ** WOP -- F/Sgt. P W Duckers, RAF.  * Fate Unkown.

We ran out of gas over what our navigator informed us was England. It turned out to be Holland. After landing in a ploughed field and getting rid of my “chute”, I followed a road into a village. Met two Dutch policeme.
Next evening German bicycle patrol came up behind me, while I walked along the road.
PRISON CAMPS:Stalag VIIIB, Lamsdorf; Stalag Luft 3, Sagan; Stalag Luft 6, Heydekrug; Stalag 357, Thorn, Poland.
Thomas was released from the RCAF at Dartmouth, NS, in October 1945.
