Wilf was born in Toronto on March 3, 1919. He attended Perth Avenue Public School and Western Tech (Commercial). He was employed by the Royal Trust Company in Dec./1936.
He enlisted at Toronto in the RCAF and did his Manning Pool at Toronto. He was then posted to RCAF Station Yarmouth, Nova Scotia for guard duty. Then he did his Intial Tarining School at Victoriaville - #13 Elementary Flying School at St. Eugene and his Service Flying School at #1 Camp Borden. He received his Pilot Wing on Feb. 27, 1942 and was posted to the UK on March 29, 1942.
He did his AFU at Ternhill, Calvely; OTU at #59 Crosby-on-Eden, Longtown & Milfield, Northumberland. He served on #175 Squadron, Warmwell, Dorset, #247 Squadron, High Ercall & Exeter. Posted overseas
October 17, 1942. #134 Squadron, Western Desert & North Africa. Squadron moved to Burma, November 14/43. Appointed Commanding Officer of #1301 Meteorological Flight, Nagpur, India September 15, 1944. Recalled to UK March 31, 1945.
Wilf was demobbed at Toronto in October 1945, followed by a stay of ten months at Gravenhurst sanitorium for medical check-up on full rank pay scale and benefits. Discharge completed end of August 1946.
Resumed position at Royal Trust in 1946 in Pension Plan Administration. Later held positions at Montreal Trust, Wm. M. Mercer(pension consultants), Canada Permanent Trust, University of Toronto (Human Relations Department). Retired from U. of T. on July 31, 1984.
Married Louise on June 2, 1951. One son and one daughter.
Wilf had been active as a director with the Burma Star Association - first Canadian Branch. Member of Canadian Fighter Pilots Association and Thunderbolt Pilots Association. Founding member (1956) of Guild of Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Accountants, now active in every province.
