Ren was born at Samari, Papua, Australia. He attended Thornbourgh College and in May 1941 at Sydney Australia he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force.
He did his Elementary Flying School at Lowood, Narandera, Australia. He was then posted to Canada and did his Service Flying Training at Dunnville, FIS at Trenton and then posted to Borden. He received his Pilot Wing at Dunnville on the 9th of October, 1942.
He did further training at Bagotville and then was posted overseas and became attached to the RAF and did more training at Annan in Scotland.
He was posted to #56 Squadron and also #129 Squadron RAF Fighter Command.
Stations served on during operations were: Newchurch, Andrews Field, Tangmere, Bentwaters and Varnes in Norway.
He was demobbed in October of 1945 at Bradfield Park, Sydney, Australia.
He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Methods Engineering Degree. He was the owner of a shoe manufacturing company for 20 years; he also worked at the Department of Industry in Ottawa for 13 years; he aslo was a management consultant in automation and financial restructuring for seven years.
Ren is married to Betty. They have five children: a C.A.,a M.D., a lawyer, a banker and a Ph.D. in Psychology.
