Donald was born on December 12, 1917 at Norwich, Ontario. He graduated from the Kingsville, Ontario High School. He worked at the Royal Bank.
He enlisted in the RCAF at Windsor on August, 1940. He was posted to Manning Depot at Brandon, Manitoba then Guard Duty at Paulson, Manitoba. He did his Elementary Flying at Regina and his Service Flying at Yorkton where he received his Pilot Wing on June 23, 1941.

He was posted overseas and landed at Bournemouth in August, 1941. He did his training at East Fortune, Scotland, Night Flying Operational Training Unit.
He was posted to #125 Squadron, RAF (Night Fighter). His crew was W/C W.E. Pettifer - Navigator/Radar.
He served on a number of stations: Fairwood Common; Colerne; Coltishall; Exeter; Sumburgh; Peterhead;
Middle Wallop; Predannack and Bradwell Bay.

Donald destroyed two German aircraft - July, 1942 a Heinkell III over the Irish Sea; and June 1943, a JU88 in the area of Plymouth barrage balloons.
One bail-out - over Somerset when aircraft disabled by an engine fire.

Donald was demobbed at Toronto on September 1945
He graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College at Guelph and was employed with Unilever Ltd. of the UK as a poultry specialist.

Donald is married to Angela and they have two sons, Ian and James.                                       02/03/01
