Alex was born on June 6, 1924 at Leeds in Yorkshire.
After secondary school, Alex attended technical school and became an apprentice electrician.
Alex enlisted in the RAF at Doncaster, in August 1943. He trained at St. Johnís Wood (Lords Cricket Ground);
#3 ITW, Torquay; #4 STT Engineer School, St. Athens, South Wales. Where he received his Flight Engineer on April, 1944.

He was posted to #158 Squadron, 4 Group, Lissett, Yorks.
His crew consisted of J.L.Beeson, RAAF (pilot); William Bennett (navigator); Robert Jones (BA); J.Nichols, RAAF (WOP); P.A. Murphy (MUG); L.A.E. Papworth (RG).
Alex was demobbed at Kirkham, Lancs., March 1947.
Alex resumed his technical training and qualified as an electrician. He emigrated to Canada in 1956 and was employed by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. He was later employed by Ontario Hydro for 18 years, retiring in 1989.
He is married to Joan and they have three children. February 9, 2002
