Joseph was born on July 4, 1920 at Toront, Ontario. He was a University student when he enlisted in the RCAF on April 20, 1941 at Toronto.
He trained at #1 ITS Toronto; #1 AOS, Malton; B&G School, Jarvis; ANS Rivers, Man.;GRS (RAF) Charlottetown. He was awarded his Observer Wing at Rivers on August 21, 1942.

He was posted to the UK and landed at Bournemouth in October 1942. He was sent to a Flying Boat OTU at Invergordon in Scotland.
He served on Coastal Command Squadrons #191, 354, and 357.
He was on stations; Korangi Creek (near Karachi), India; Detachments to Bombay, Cochin, Cuttack, Madras, Kogala, Minneria in Ceylon.
His crew were all RAF members.
They did a steady succession of cover for convoys of ships in Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal.
Joseph left the RCAF on September 17, 1945.
After the war he attended the U. of T. (School of Physical & Health Education) BPHE, Ontario College of Education, Secondary School Teacherís Certificate, U. of Illinois (MS Degree), University of Toronto.
Joseph married Peggy Howell in August 23, 1952. One son born 1959.       July 19,2001
