Chuck was born on July 31, 1920 at Ispas, Alberta. He enlisted in the RCAF in Janurary 13, 1942 at Edmonton.
He was at #2 Manning Depot, Edmonton: Guard Duty, St. Hubert; #6 ITS, Toronto; #4 AOS, London, Ont. where he received his Navigator Wing in October, 1942.
He was posted to #3 PRC, Bournemouth, England, then to RAF Regiment Course - Butlers Camp-Mar 1/43 - Apr. 3/43; Adv Flying Course - May 2 - 16/43; OTU, Lossiemouth - June 6/43; Conversion Unit - Oct 10/43.
He was posted to #77 Squadron at Elvington.
His crew on ops: Pilot - Keith Pettigrew(RCAF); BA - Don Runshe(USAF); WAG - Jack Connor (RAF);
FE - Sandilands (RAF); AG - Bert(Hammer)Hogue (RCAF); AG - Eric Yates (RAF).

Shot down Jan 29/44 by fighter at end of bombing run over Berlin. Parachuted out - got hung up in some trees cut myself loose, dropped approximately 30 feet (early dawn). Broke rib, hurt back, one leg partially paralyzed. I gave myself up at farm house and taken by local police to village prison cell. Bomb Aimer (Runshe), brought in a couple of hours later.
Prison Camps: Furstanwalde, Spendau, Oberwesel, Dulag Luft, Frankfurt, Feb 6, 1944. (Met rest of crew that survived. Received Red Cross parcel and first cigarette).
He was demobbed at Calgary, Alberta on September 6, 1945.
He graduated from the University of Alberta with a B/Science Electrical Engineering.
Retired as Vice President Operations from WABCO Ltd. Stoney Creek, Ontario.
