Bill was born on February 14, 1922 in London, Ontario. He died in Toronto in 1997.
He received his Senior Matriculation.
He enlisted in the RCAF on July 21, 1941 in London, Ont.
He served at Manning Depot in Toronto; #1 ITS, Toronto; #4 AOS London; #6 B&G at Fingal and #2 Astro Nav.
School at Pennfield Ridge, NB.; He received his Observer Wing in April 1942 at Fingal, Ontario.
He was posted to the UK in June 1942
He trained at #10 AFU Dumfries; #14 OTU Cottesmore, England; Con Unit at Topcliffe.
He was posted to #427 Squadron, 6 Group, Bomber Command at Croft, Yorks and Leeming, Yorks.
His crew on ops consisted of P/O G.P.C. Vandekerchove, Pilot; P/O D.Rothwell, B/A ; P/O Allan Young,WOP
WO J.J. McLean Rear AG; F/S T. Bartlet , F/E; Second Pilot (1st op) Sgt. C. Gofton (on last trip only) J.Albert MUG. Six crew members died including second pilot. Two survived - bomb aimer and myself.
He was demobbed in September 1945 at Toronto.
He attended Ontario College of Art on DVA for four years. Graduated with OACA degree in graphic design and advertising art. Worked entire career at Imperial Oil - Public Affairs - as the Art Director and Graphic Designer. Retired in 1979.
He was married to Norma for forty-one years. Son Marc David Williamson and daughter,
Mrs. Michaela Peters. January 14, 2002.
