Donald was born on March 14, 1927 in Toronto. He graduated from Eastern High School of Commerce followed by two years, University of Toronto.
He enlisted in the RCAF in December 1948, at Toronto. #1 ITS., Toronto, Clinton, Trenton, Summerside. He received his Radio Officer Wing at Clinton in September 1949; Radio Navigator Wing at Summerside, May 1951
“Pete” served on a number of RCAF squadrons, including 408 (Photo) at Rockcliffe as Radio Officer; 405 (Maritime Patrol), Greenwood, as Navigator on Lancasters, P2V Neptunes and Argus, taking part in many NATO ASW exercises. From 1957-1960, did a staff tour in SO organization at Maritime Cmd. Halifax. He was then posted on an exchange program to #120 RAF Coastal Command as Navigation Leader, taking part in NATO exercises in the North Sea from 1960-2 on Shackletons.
Following a brief stint on 437 Squadron (Transport) at Trenton, he started a new career in Management Engineering on assignments to Trenton, Air Division HQ and Canadian Army units in NATO Europe from parent base, NDHQ Ottawa.
While at RCAF Station Toronto (Downsview) he decided to take early retirement and pursue a career in law office management. He was with a prestigious Toronto law office until his second retirment in 1988.
“Pete” was demobbed at Downsview in July, 1972.
“Pete” married Jean in 1951 and they are enjoying retirement in Toronto with frequent travel to Europe and the USA. He is a golfer and a curler.                                          January 03, 2002
