Wilfred was born on February 3, 1923 in Oshawa, Ontario.
He attended Oshawa Collegiate & Vocational Institute; Electrical apprentice, General Motors, 1940 - 2.
He joined the RCAF in August 1942 at Toronto.
He was trained at: Manning Depot, Toronto; Kingston, #2 Wireless School; Calgary #6 B&G School, Mountainview; Lachine, Quebec.
He received his WAG Wing at Mountainview on December 24, 1943.
He was posted to the UK arriving at Bournemouth in January 1943.
He was now trained at #9 (0) AFU Llanderwog, Wales; #22 OTU Stratford; # 1666 HCU Wombleton, Yorks.
He served at Tholthorpe, Yorks. From January to May 1945, instructed at #22 OTU, Gaydon. On #427 Squadron at Leeming May 1945 - June 1946 - forces of occupation. Six trips to Naples, Italy - spent Christmas 1945 in Rome.
Served on #425 Squadron (Alouette), 6 group; #427 Squadron, 4 Group, Bomber Command.
Crew on Ops: Gil Simard, Pilot; Bill Houghton, Navigator; Morse Renault, BA; Jim Vermett, MUG;
Jim Stevenson, Rear AG; Bob Parry, F/E; W.E. Gillette, WAG.
Most memorable ops were Duisberg on October 14, 1944 and Dortmund on October 6, 1944.
Wilf was demobbed at Lachine on July 4, 1946.
Completed electrical apprenticeship. Spent 40.5 years in maintenance at GM in Oshawa. Supervisor Electrical Maintenance Department. Retired March 1980.
Married in Leeds November 17, 1945. One son born December 26, 1946.
Obtained private pilotís license in 1956. President, Oshawa Flying Club 1964 - 5. Eastern Ontario Zone Director ,RCFCA, Member #420 Wing RCAFA.              January 23, 2002
