Hank was born at Langham, Saskechewan.
He attended Langham High School.
He enlisted in the RCAF at Toronto, in September 1942.
He trained at #1 Manning Depot, Toronto; #4 Wireless School, Guelph; #4 ITS, Edmonton; Lachine; #9 B&G, Mossbank where he was awarded his WAG wing in September 1943.
He was posted to the UK #3 PRC Bournemouth. He trained at Ossington; Wombelton and Mona(new).
He was posted to 424 Squadron, RCAF, 6 Group Bomber Command at Skipton-on-Swale.
His crew consisted of:

JU88 attack over North Sea while on training flight in Wimpy.
Shot down returning from raid on Osnabruck. Pilot and gunners killed. Remainder of crew captured.

On April 22, 1945, the Russian tanks rolled over the fences, the troops being male and female, Mongolian race. We had three days of freedom. The European Russians arrived and we were prisoners again. We were detained in the camp for one month following April 22nd, and finally released after assurance on the repatriation of all Russian Nationals from Western Occupation Zones.
Hank was demobbed at Toronto in October 1945,
He joined the RCMP- then returned to RCAF until June 1968 (Security Branch)
